1. Fashion is intensely personal, in the same way that poetry is intensely personal. It is a medium through which personal stories can be told, memories re-lived and futures foretold.
Fashion should be considered as a personal item or style. People have their own rights and thoughts to express themselves in different ways through fashion. For example, we can see designers’ own identities in their products.
I agree with this statement or aphorism. Because I believe that myself as a designer, would design garments or any product that I love and it would be a deep reflection on me as the designer. It will be my expression through designing. Moreover, each person somehow has his or her own dressing style; even though we are deeply influenced by the “main fashion” nowadays.
2. Fashion does not define. It is instead a term that demands definition.
In a narrower aspect, fashion is a way to define a person. Contrastly, in a bigger view, fashion can be defined in many different ways.
Partially, I agree with it, but in another way, I don’t. Since fashion, like dressing style is a way to express a person himself or herself. However, when fashion is regarded as a bid area, a lot of things could be considered as fashion. Then fashion this word will need other definitions.
