Thesis Focus
I’m focusing on High Jewelry and Its Relationship To Powerful Women. I would love to create an interactive book that caters specifically to young girls.
The goal of this would be to guide youth through a series of stories dedicated to unearthing women through time from various backgrounds. I’ve also found that there’s value in linking both gender norms and the psychology of jewelry into my piece.
Personal Goals
I would like to dramatically improve my process and how I’m working through my thesis so I can develop an idea that I’m proud of. I need to focus on becoming a better and more efficient decision maker so that I can iterate more quickly.
I want to design a project that focuses on skill sets that I enjoy, in addition to working on a project that I actually like! Across a majority of my time at DT I’ve worked utilizing technologies that are frustrating and that I ultimately developed a hatred for because of the exhaustion of learning how to use them.
It’s important to me that I love the project and what I’m contributing to

Strengths
- I feel like this project leverages a unique topic, and that jewelry is relatable to both men and women! I’ve gotten feedback that people find Fine Jewelry mysterious and confusing and that it’s really interesting to intertwine this idea with gender dynamics.
- I intern for a jeweler which makes it possible to get feedback and to learn from industry experts at the same time
Weaknesses
- I feel that I need to become more decisive and very quickly. Last semester I felt that I took more steps backwards than forwards and I would like to refocus on the bigger picture
- I feel like I have experienced challenges with the determining the specific form that I want the project to take
- The need to exhibit work is a bit of a challenge since I haven’t had an opportunity to do this in another classroom
Opportunities
- I have the ability to intern during the semester for a gemologist and regularly think about how the role of jewelry impacts the way that women purchase and wear jewelry
- I want this thesis to challenge the way people think about Fine Jewelry and It’s Relationship to Powerful Women, by making people more insightful about the jewelry they wear and the ode to gender roles.
- Thesis is the only course that I’m taking this semester alongside the two jobs I’m working
Threats
- I’m the most concerned with the time I have to create this project in addition to the amount of time we have left prior to planning the exhibition
- I’m just generally very stressed about this project because I have received so little direction, I need to determine the ultimate form of this and learn about how I will accomplish this
Where do you need the most assistance
- I need feedback on my idea and what specific mediums the project could take, this is something that I didn’t get enough feedback last semester on the various
