Midterm — Reflection & Feedback

Midterm Presentation

The midterm presentation was one of the first experiences I had where I was able to get really constructive feedback from senior designers and professionals about the experience I’m creating. In my last post I put in photos of the PDF that I presented to the class and our guest crits.

My Takeaways From Feedback:

  • Taking into consideration how materials impact the experience
    • I received feedback that it may be important to consider how people can incorporate personal items the process of creating the charm bracelets — the idea of allowing people to carry something that is important to them is important to the process of creation and was something mentioned by both guest crits
    • I also received feedback to consider non-plastic materials, taking into consideration how people who create these bracelets may want to incorporate more natural materials into their charm bracelet making process
  • Creating a safe space for people to create and make without disruption
    • I received feedback around creating language and signage that allows people to engage in the experience without disruption, during my presentation in next steps I expressed that I was concerned that people might walk up to see the workshop while it’s taking place in thesis and interrupt the conversation or experience active workshop experiences.
  • Digital Photos + Fujifilm Polaroid
    • I expressed in next steps that I would ideally have both a Fuji film camera and a digital camera to document the bracelets that workshop participant creates. The guest crits provided feedback that it would be great for people to walk away with objects after the workshops and that the bracelets would be impactful
