Learning Portfolio Post #3

The theme emerged in my dress practice log should be “personal or practical”. My favorite personal style is not very convenient, which means I can’t put in on everyday everywhere. I need to consider about what am I going to do on that day and decide wear it or not. I doesn’t mean my practical clothing are bought by random. I just don’t put as much attention as I do to the style I prefer.

I always examine my clothing. And I also took pictures of my daily clothing even without the goal of finishing homework, especially for some new dress or satisfying collocations. I found those photos are not just something to share with others on social media on a certain time point, they are also records of memories, which can make me think of what happened on that day, why I wore like that, what’s my feeling at the end of that day.

The dress practice log gave me a chance to look at my clothing in a system of week. The seven days create a personal way of arrangement and life, which I can see the back stories through the clothing I chose on that day. For example, when I see the soft oversized sweater, I can say that “I stay at home because it’s a Sunday”. The reaction of clothing and person is built and could be understood via some certain ways. The practice log id one of them.

Here is Yuzhou Lou's Blog. I will share some notes of courses, reading and personal work in my daily life. You can also call me Jen. I am from Shanghai, China. Now I live in new York, USA. I am studying at Parsons, the New school for Design as a freshman. My major in the further will be Fashion Design. Dark colors are my favorite. I like Lolita Fashion, Traditional Asian style and wedding dresses. Also, I prefer a few of gothic and punk elements. Design is part of lives. This is one thing I believe. It doesn't matter how old you are or what job do you do. Design is a style of living. Keep having day dreams. That's the way to make people create new things.
