Silhouette Study Garment-1

“Once a unisexed article of clothing, by the early nineteenth century the corset represented the large enlightenment shift in gender roles the Rousseauian belief in female weakness, maternity, and virtue; ” (Taddeo, Julie Anne and Miller, Cynthia J. Steaming into a Victorian future : a steampunk anthology. Scarecrow Press, 2013.)

I select vest as my pattern because it’s a common feature in steampunk design. From the citation, I can find corset, as an important element in nineteenth century clothing, is a great idea to combine with vest. I am going to add a lace(strap?)at the back waist. I will use normal material such as chemical fiber on straps. I may use different color related to my topic.
