I created a website that uses the New York Times Article Search API to pull the top ten articles for a keyword from a random decade between 1851 and the present.
The idea with this project was to create a filter, a limitation on the amount of information from the archive that you’re able to access, while at the same time presenting items you might not think to search for.
I’m interested in the computer as a tool of serendipity. The combination of organized information and chance encounter is a way to develop ourselves and our knowledge about the world. I’m exploring ways of introducing serendipity into the process of accessing, viewing and processing digital information.
The site is currently live here.
