This project will explore how throughout the 1960’s to the 1980’s, the music industry experienced a shift in terms of women in popular music.. I want to show how over the course of time, gender construction for women in music loosened.

My process began with research. I read articles and listened to playlists. After that, I would search for live performances. I watched many performances, taking note of body language, dress, and lyrics. I looked at imagery/photos of the women and then I downloaded the concerts/photos to use in my video. I organized the media by year. It was fascinating to me how quickly the music industry shifted. In my video, the footage I use is sequential and the images are somewhat sequential as well. I made a few drafts of my final video project because whenever I found a new artist that I found relevant I would go back in and add the footage. I am pleased with how my video turned out.
