PROJECT PROPOSAL:

• Title  – “20 Years: The Progression of Female Presence Onstage From the 60’s to the 80’s”

• Description of the Proposed Project:  

This project will be an film that shows the progression of female in professional rock music.

• What form will the project take? (ie. what will it look like?)

It will be a video featuring photographs of female performers from 1960-1980 and footage from performances.

• What materials do I propose to use?

A projector

• What technical processes will I employ in the project?

Technically, this piece will require me to collect and edit a film using premiere and then project the film that I made on the wall.

• How will it be displayed?

It will be on the wall.

• What ideas will be at stake in my final project? (ie. what is the work about?)

This project will explore women who broke free from standards in the music industry from the 1960’s to the 1980’s and how performativity evolved as well. I want to show how over the course of time, gender construction for women in music loosened and a larger opportunity for on stage expression arose .
