Portrait

Project Description:

Students will work in pairs. Each student will create an annotated map of their current life and routine. An annotated map is a list of impressions, memories, notable facts, interesting historical information on the space they inhabit (Parsons, their living quarters, etc.). While simpler than our previous mapping project, your annotated map still needs
to read as a complete project with a “gallery ready” finish. The pairs will switch annotated maps and use these to create portraits or avatars of their partners based on the information given in the maps. The portraits cannot be
physical renderings of the annotated map authors.

Materials:  Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Keynote, Quicktime, iMovie

Reflection:

I felt that my piece came out the way I had hoped for the most part.  Although there seemed to be a small disconnect in the style of the shoe and the hand, it seemed to capture Yoshi’s aesthetic and hopes for his future.  The reason why I chose the hand to come out of the eye was that Yoshi described in his map walking different places and seeing different styles and incorporating what he liked into his own creations.  I chose the shoes to show his type of style and how he is going from place to place to follow his passions along with the fact that being in an art school he is on a direct path to improve his craft.  The feet are in motion because I thought that would help show how he is evolving through his art and style.
