My name is Tobey Parker. I am an artist born and raised in Queens, New York. The work I create spans many mediums including paint, sculpture, and more. I primarily make paintings and mixed media collages, as well as use Augmented Reality to create immersive experiences which go alongside the physical works. In terms of aesthetic values I’m drawn to pastel and nostalgic imagery, I love fashion and illustration so much of my inspiration when it comes to composition and visual storytelling comes from that. I have struggled in the past with viewing my work as “deep” enough or whether it was able to inhabit space in the fine art world, but I have learned to not compromise any of these sensibilities because they make my work a reflection of who I am. I like surrounding myself with other artists, I’m inspired by my friends. I run an archival account with my best friend where we post our inspirations ranging from stickers to CD design. In the future I want to continue curating online spaces like through this account. I also have a clothing line/ business I’m working on, I hope to continue working on it and support myself through profits made by it. Ultimately, I would love to sell my art and curate in a non-traditional sense outside of a museum setting. I have lots of things I want to do in the future and working in an education setting is also one of them.
