- The Upper East Side in Manhattan is located on the east side of Central Park. It starts from 59th street to 110th street, and from centreal park to the river side. It’s a quiet large space in NYC, that the neighborhood itself is divided into smaller districts. The main people who lived in the Upper East Side at he 19th to early 20th century is the Germans.

- The Upper East Side has the reputation of a place for the wealthy and upper-class society, however, this doesn’t mean that the mid-class can’t live there. This reputation goes back to the famous wealthy people who lived in it, like the Rockefellers, Kennedys, Roosevelts, Whitneys, and Dukes. For that, most of the residential places in the Upper East Side is luxurious and expensive.

- There’s a lot of designers’ stores in the Upper East Side along Madison Avenue, and a lot of shopping places in Lexington Avenue. This is because it is a high class place, and many wealthy famous people and celebrities live and shop from there.

- It’s common to see well-dressed people walking in the streets of the Upper East Side. It could be because a lot of the upper-class society live there and they dress well, and they inspire the other people. It could also be because of the many designers’ stores. The Upper East Side got this reputation all around the world from the series Gossip Girl.

- It’s mostly quiet in the Upper East, atleat more quiet than the other neighborhoods in Manhattan. This is because it is more of a residential area than a tourist attraction. But this doesn’t mean that you can’t find tourists or theres nothing there, it’s just less than the other neighborhoods.

- One of the tourists attractions in the Upper East Side is The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Guggenheim. Those are the places that you could find tourist and it’s more crowded. This does not bother the residants because it’s on the borders of the Upper East Side, at Park Avenue.

- There are two classes of society living in the Upper East, the upper-class and mid-class. The picture shows that there are modern and old buildings at the same street and beside each other which also makes it a convenient place for living

- I have noticed that the modern buildings are located along Park Avenue and on the corners of the blocks. This makes it helpful to find the convenient place according to the prise, space, and many more options. Also, the architecture in the Upper east is interesting and neat.

- In the 19th century Germans lived in the Upper East Side, and two thirds of New York spoke german. Unlike Now where you can barely find people who speak German. Germans took over the Upper East Side that Lexington Avenue was named “The German Boulevard”. They also had shops, cafes, markets, and many more. At that time, rent in the Upper East was fairly low and everyone lived there. In the beginning of the 20th century the Germans started to leave New York and the Upper East Side, and they didn’t leave much behind them.

- This is a picture of a German immigrant family. As you can see they weren’t wearing their traditional clothes, however, it was somehow similar. The Germans traditional clothes in practical, it’s like it’s designed for workers, specifically farmers. The Germans came dressed up in clothes that looks kind of like workers clothes but in a more non traditional way.

- The higher class of Germans also came in clothes that gave the feeling of working clothes but in a more sophisticated way. It’s like they’re uniforms. Every gender had their own clothes for their age which was pretty interesting.

- One of the things that they left is architecture. The German Europian architecture style took over the streets of the Upper East Side, mostly in Park avenue and is some areas from 64th to 79th street.

- Also, Schaler & Weber the marker. It was one of the first and most famous German markets at that time, and it’s one of the very few places that survived to this time, and it still is successful. Because of its success, it opened many other shops all around New York.
