Bridge Project 1 reflection

Project description: A map of a small town named Kent, Connecticut in my perspective. By using scenes of my most memorable moments to fill in the blocks of the town I aimed to think outside of the box to represent the town’s importance to me. Roads were made three dimensional to better transition to these memories. I emphasized certain parts of the map by representing them with large or curiosity provoking objects. For instance,  used to the road to “branch out” into a scene. I did this by making the road converge out into the shape of a tree which grew into one of the memories.

Reflection: thinking back I feel like my work in this project did not live up to my potential as an artist. I struggled with an idea of how to represent myself through a map. I enjoyed thinking about how I was going to accomplish this and what I was going to do next while making it. I felt that its lack of color hurt how people perceived the piece which reminded me that other people may not perceive things the same way I do, especially about my own work. I thought that it would read well and people would be able to understand why I chose to do what I did. I believe that color would have made all the difference.
