Reflective Writing: Single to Multiple

The second semester has been an interesting and challenging time for me both artistically as well as academically. Two of the projects done in Time: Composition class were to meant to capture a transitional space through photographs. For my single photograph project I chose Union Square to represent this space where people cross from one space to another.

For my multiple image project I used union square by taking photos from far, close and different angles in order to capture the area surrounding. It was important that I had a few people candidly walking through the photos to give the space a sense of the stations busy nature. People are constantly flooding in and out of the staircase which is what I decided to capture with my single image. At first I was going to use a picture I had taken from the top of the stairs however I felt that a picture from the bottom was more powerful because of the lighting and people caught in clear movement.
