Our Statement:
For Bridge 2, our group decided to explore the political aspirations or the political rivalry
present today. Political Mockery is the title we decided to give for this project. Politics exists
everywhere, as near to all countries in the world are governed by some form of government.
Within these institutions, politicians and governmental bodies represent the people. They conduct
both domestic and foreign relations to ensure everything is in favor to the country. In politics,
political leaders negotiate or compromise each other behind the media. As media portrays
congregations of politicians in the most positive perspective, what about behind the scenes when
media is not around?
For Political Mockery , we devise to reenact one of these political congregations. The
congregation is referenced from the Singapore Summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jung
Un as they act friendly towards each other on camera. The model is relatively smaller, further, is
comprised of miniature furnitures like cushion, table, flags, peace treaty, and more. The peace
treaty that we see through our TVs or technology will be shown through a camera or phone
camera, where we will zoom in to a perspective the media would take. The audience will view
the model through the camera lens first to experience what the media present: the peace treaty,
then, on the other camera, we will show what these political leader’s true intentions are: the
nuclear bomb. In the background, the audience will listen to what the congregation was like
between the political leaders through a short video by the Guardian ; it was a recording of what
was said between the political leaders. Overall, this project is about the mockery existing in
politics.
