Becoming Non-Human / Designing Non Human

As a fashion design major, I always felt so bad with the leftover fabric. There are a lot of people who cares sustainability now so people come up with some ideas how to fix this fashion industry problem. For instance, there is zero-waste pattern and garment that is made out of just one piece of huge fabric. This might help the world, however, these zero-waste designs or garments have very limited choice and less variety. Instead, I decided to use the leftover fabrics, which almost in every fashion classes have in the floor. So I collected them and created this leftover weaved clothing for the cold tree who are trying to survive in this cold winter in NYC. First, I went to the open studio in the UC building and looked through the floor. I collected variety of fabric, in different textures and colors. Then, I cut them into long but not-too-thick width. And I started to weave them on my self-made weaving loom. After finishing the piece, I went back to Byrant Park and placed my piece over the tree and took some pictures.
