A picture of samoyede woman and child from NYPL digital picture collection. The fur coats that they wear has a sense of juxtaposition in time as the majority outfit becomes more urbanized. The scale of the figure expanded as the story proceed, the relation between figure/ ground brings a spacial relation to the reader. They keep on moving closer to their destination. I took the titled as how it originally is from this picture from the 70s, it is titled: Habit of A Samoyede Woman & Child Subject To Russia . In the very last page of the book, instead of Russia that they headed to, they end up somewhere close to Russia which is somewhere close to Mao. The communist red color filter on them, for some reason it feels like they have already reached their destination because the connection between Mao, Stalin and Russia. The random shifting and juxtaposition in between time and locations and the color tones of the setting. The apparel of these two characters with unrelated environment, conveys a sense that the story describe how they got lost in time. The length of the story can be extended if we have more time.
