Animals have an “expressivity” shown through the natural patterns and colors of their skins and body parts, which have a particular communicative or affective capacity; to attract males, scare predators away, show anger, etc. This project is to draw inspiration from that expressive skin and see how it reacts with movable forms and being applied to human body. A blur in boundaries between human and other life forms, and an celebration of the natural beauty and magnificane of the ecosystem are stressed.

Self-reflection/ Self-assessment
<Second DEVIL Skin> is a creative project that allows me to combine different skills I have learnt throughout the semester to deliver an original concept. From the research of Thorny Devil, the translation from 2D to 3D digitally was really exciting and definitely I could not accomplish without the assistance of the knowledge from this course. I’m really satisfied with what I ended up with, and felt grateful for such a quick-but-effective 7-week course. When I look back, it’s amazing to see how much I have become familiar with Rhino. My vision for building 3-dimensional objects and structures are also strengthened. The only pity would be that I wish we would have more classes. From now on, it becomes more of a self-learning process, but I think it will be a fun journey since I already have all the basic knowledge to sail on.
