My piece is about my Uncles house in cape cod that I visit every summer. When I was younger the house was a really happy magical place but as I got older my relationships, especially with the adults in the house changed. The wine glass is representative of the adults, as you cannot drink wine at a young age, and the glass is spilling out fabric which represents the house. The glass marker is the Armenian flag and cross representing my heritage and how the adults in my life are very passionate about our ethnicity and sometimes force it just like many other things. On top of the fabric or “house” is an outdoor shower. I chose the shower because when I was young it was a fun place to hide in games or give my stuffed animals baths with my cousins but when I got older the shower was a happy place and escape when things in the house became chaotic.
