Design and Layout: Contribution Project

For this project, we were given a folder of 60 images from a fellow peer to create a visual narrative.

In my narrative, the protagonist seeks comfort wherever and whenever he/she goes, however he/she concludes in the end that he/she finds most comfort and familiarity at home.

“I – the protagonist, travel between time.
I- the protagonist, seek comfort in wherever and whenever.
I – the protagonist, seek love in companionship, at home, at wherever.
I – the protagonist, seek familiarity when I am on different continents, trying to search for common ground.
I – the protagonist, am trying to escape from one thing only: unfamiliarity.”

In the beginning of this project, I wasn’t sure which route I would take to design this book, I have experimented with different formats such as incorporating colours or multiple photos in one. Some worked, some did not. In the end, I decided to use abstract elements such as grey scale typographic ornaments and typographic art to convey the narrative.

If I had more time to complete this project, I would incorporate more photos into the book, it was rather difficult to design so many typographic elements when I could not find photos that fit well with the narrative.
