Process: This process was a learning experience in that I had to learn a new medium from the ground up. I was able to hand my portion of the project, which was the arms and the body. I also created the chest of the doll by using a pair of socks with stuffing.
Artist Statement: This project embodies the idea around beauty standards and how are forced into society and how they effect young girl. In stores today, you often see that there are clear sections of stores for small girls and sections for young men. I often think about how we as people never seem to see an issue with this until we begin to think about how broken the system is. We created this doll in effort to show we as people over sexualize objects. This doll was built to show these standards are wrong and are not appropriate. We wanted the doll to present how it doesn’t matter the material it is made of, it can still be sexualized.
