“Basic Observations” sculptural homework

For the basic observations sculptural homework I decided to use Bristol Paper – a more rigid type of paper to make a cuboid, the paper is connected using brass fasteners. I then decided to use Lokta Paper to surface one side of the cuboid – it is hollow and the other side of the cuboid is open. Lokta paper is created from the bark of the Daphne plant (locally known as “Lokta”), this eco-friendly paper is handmade from 100% natural plant fibers. “It is collected by Nepalese farmers and Village Co-operatives from the community forest, and then hand-silkscreened by Village Co-operatives, small cottage industries that employ mostly women and promote Women Co-operatives.”
The Bristol paper is tougher, more rigid and ‘harder’ than the more soft Lokta paper. I decided to add artist tape to the surface of the Bristol paper cuboid for aesthetic purposes.

Your reasons for the materials seem thoughtful, but the extensional, rectangular right angle, reads as static, with the exception of handmade paper on end, which is pictorially engaging as an abstract image.
You do not mention the “Basic Observations” chapter, which makes me think you did not read it. What is the open concave part of the side about?
