Workshop

1.Write which workshop you attended, the date, who taught the workshop, what were the basic topic(s) covered

I attended the wire sculpture workshop. It was taught by Roger Stevens on April 17th. He taught the basics of wire working and showed us how to create useful abstract shapes, such as a tripod and a hanging mobile.

2. What skill and techniques were demonstrated / what specific information skills/techniques/tools/materials did you learn about?  If the workshop was participatory, what did you make?

Basic wire works and abstract shapes. He also taught us how to properly maneuver the wire and be able to manipulate it in a way that was smooth and even. He also showed us helpful joining techniques such as wire wrapping. We ended up making a sort of abstract tripod made of a single long piece of wire, he also showed us how to make something that would balance evenly on top of it.

3. How might you apply what you learned to your work in this class?  Was the workshop helpful?

This workshop was helpful in refining the wire working skills I had acquired over the course of the semester, it was interesting to see someone who profesionally works in wire in the abstract, which is the opposite of what we did in class.

4. Post 3-5 photos from the workshop showing what was taught and what the instructor made, and what you did (sometimes you will not participate, just watch)  The images shown are his example versus what I created, I think it is easy to tell who was the professional.
