In Christopher Breward’s foreword to Fashion Studies, he displayed a series of aphorisms of what the potential meaning of fashion would be. The third aphorism which says “fashion is not necessarily spectacular…..It is the stuff of the ethnographer and the anthropologist”. In simple words, fashion can be impressive yet also be dull and boring but that is something for the viewer to judge. I find myself to agree with this quote as I see fashion as something of personal taste. Another aphorism I particularly liked was “fashion is gossip….supposition by its whispers”. I liked this aphorism because fashion is something that is constantly talked about whether its good or bad, it keeps the people talking.
