Retro-Futurism Group Reflection

Our first discussion as a group we presented our mood boards based on the subject “retro-futurism”. From this, we decided on the theme ‘Japanese Steampunk’ and our approach went towards the 7 deadly sins.

Approach:

– Digital, Audio, Prototype, Product Proposal, and Design

We genuinely worked very well together because we had similar visions of the end product. We all had a significant part in the project and all the tasks were divided up evenly. We met for long periods of time and when we don’t, our group chat is always active – we constantly send sketches and suggest ideas during the process. Along the way, all four of us got closer as friends from this project, it made the project really fun and not as challenging as expected. However, the most challenging aspect we all agreed on was when we struggled to have a focal point at the very beginning. This was because we had so many things we wanted to do, it was tough to focus on one. the overall pace was perfect – we were not stressed and had everything done on time.

The collaboration was very worthwhile because we made sure that each team member was happy and contributed to the project idea. We feel that we would not be able to pull it off well without each-other and if we were to get back to the project, we could develop it further without any fallbacks.

potential ideas we didn’t use:

– creating a pod

– creating a whole Japanese Steampunk character

– 5 stages of grief
