The assignment for this project was to create a zine that showcases a part of your world. My mom is my world, and this zine is for her. It is a reflection of my childhood and the memories I have of my mother and the art we’ve discovered together. Each page in the zine is an homage to specific works by different artists that are uniquely special to my mother and I. Artworks depicted in this zine include (in order): Mapplethorpe’s Untitled Polaroid (1974), David Bowie & William S. Burroughs Wild Boys (1974), Sophie Calle’s Take Care of Yourself (2007), Yayoi Kusama’s The Obliteration Room (2002), Maggie Lee’s Video Salad (2010), Ai Wei Wei’s Study of Perspective (1995 to 2003), Richard Serra’s Joe (2000) and Warhol’s Silver Clouds (1966).
