This spiky back piece is made by red and pink fabric that is stuffed with cotton. It’s inspired by a hedgehog with spikes all over its body. I want to portray the need to express my true feelings but at the same time, the fear of being straightforward. People often tell me I’m an easy-going person, and while it is true, I’m always so conscious about how others think about me, so I tend to conceal what I truly feel so they don’t judge me for what I say and do. I used fabric and cotton to make this piece because the softness of both materials represents how I tend to soften the words when i communicate with people, but the shape itself is harsh, which means that I have opinion that are offensive or unpopular too. The spikes are at the back of my body is because my feeling are always concealed so nobody can see it in the front of my face. In the video, I kneeled down in the middle of the street that became a spiky rock. I do feel lonely sometimes because I do not share my thoughts to the world, so the world could not understand me as well.
