inhabited space project descriptive paragraph

The shape of this architectural piece is inspired by Diabolo, also known as the Chinese yo-yo. I used to play this toy a lot when I was little and brother and I even participated in a school competition. When I knew that we need to make a rain collection system piece, the shape of the toy came to my mind instantly, it seems to be like two opposite cups merged together. Later on after multiple experimentations, I decided to make it into a hexagon shape because it feels the most aesthetically pleasing among the all for me. The sculpture is a rain water filter that is located by the beach area in Taiwan. Going to the beach is not a common thing for the people in my country, not only because of the weather is super humid and hot, and also there is no area for us to wash off all the dirt and sand that is sticked on the body. This became my main motivation to put more thoughts into the design and made me more excited about the project because it might actually be implemented and encouraged people to create a new community around the beach area in Taiwan. The main building is functioned as a clean, huge public shower place, which the water is filtered from the rain. There is also a hexagon shape garden surrounded the sculpture for people to chill and hangout with each other before or after they shower. Family could have a little picnic space, couples or friends could sit on the grass to wait for other to came out from the shower. There might also be a few food, coffee or ice-cream stands in the area sometimes to invite more people to come to the space or make the it more comfortable to stay for a period of time. I also want the parking lot to be right behind the sculpture so it would be convenient for people to leave after they shower. Since the sculpture itself is located in nature, I wanted the whole color scheme to focus on earth tone.  I was hugely influenced by the trendy cafe shops culture in Asian Countries, that a lot of them tend to decorate the shops in earth tone colors such as beige or brown. They display a vintage atmosphere that makes me feel really cozy. This is also the reason why I decided to remake my original piece, which is a two way reflective mirror plexiglass, because it gave a cold, modern feeling that does not fit the whole environment at all.
