this video is inspired by a conversation between me and a close friend of mine. I remembered we were talking about something related to relationship. He asked me “how are you going to build new relationships without dating app?”
I was so shocked and came to the realization that my mindset was still remained at the time where people just met each other naturally, or by fate. I started to think more about the people here in New York. Everyone seems so busy reaching their own goals and dreams, it is true that you are more likely to feel more lonely. The video started with the main character being bored and lonely, stuck in the bathroom alone, craving to be noticed. Then it switches to the process of swiping. Just like what people do on different apps, but instead, on the toilet paper that illustrates a never-ending process. I found a pattern of all of the works that I’ve done , that they all contain some sorts of humor, playful quality that makes explore the modern phenomenon in a lighthearted way. Also, I shot this video in a vertical form so people could easily related to the act of being on the phone.
