Mold making

  1. Selecting peels to cast

here are the parts of the fruit peel from pineapple and melon. I chose to use fruits to cast because I want to explore using medium that is not permanent into objects that can be reproduced.

I assumed the easy mold work more easily with round shapes, so I picked the head of the melon and the pineapple to make the mold.

I used hot glue gun to fill inside the mold to get instant result. The texture of the skin was not visible, so I used crayon and paint to draw over.

head pieces from the melon

body pieces from the pineapple

After painted the pieces, I add on paper pulp pieces as the character’s wings. (I mixed some brown paper in it this time so there is more variety for the surface)
