Peer to Peer Reflection

At first, it was a challenge to write poems about a fellow classmate either from their perspective or to create something that resonates with them. Coming up with the poems and finding a poetic voice/rhythm was difficult to do especially about someone else because I couldn’t write the poems about myself. Collaborating and having my partner as my only source of feedback help me write more authentically while learning more about her. I was able to develop a writing style that correlated to her and spoke on her behalf. It was interesting how I was able to have intimate and personal conversations with my partner through a class assignment that in the ended benefited both of us to create something we were unfamiliar with. I enjoyed collaborating with my partner and combining our ideas to create something meaningful and personal. Using someone else’s stories as inspiration and the main source for my writing was something I have never done, and this exercise exposed me how to write from someone else’s perspective and speak for someone else and through them while developing my own personal writing style.
