Regenerative Cultures Draft

Assignment Description

In this assignment we are coming up with a design proposal in relation to the them of regenerative cultures.  “A new cultural narrative is emerging, capable of birthing and informing a truly regenerative human culture. We do not yet know all the details of how exactly this culture will manifest, nor do we know all the details of how we might get from the current ‘world in crisis’ situation to that thriving future of a regenerative culture. Yet aspects of this future are already with us.”

DESIGN

My definition of regenerative means restoring, renewing, and giving back to the environment and nature. Some ways to create regenerative products is by relating it to biomimicry and using nature as inspiration in the design approach in everything that we do.

The material I chose to work with is plastic, either plastic bags, or plastic bottles, etc.

Can you create a product, design an action or choreograph a movement that is regenerative in some way? What are the effects of this idea in the future? How can you engage with the public on May 11th with this way of thinking?

I want to create a product that shows people that you can make something out of anything. Making something out of plastic may not be ideal for most people, but in this event, I want to show that you can make products using common household items that we use on a daily basis but end up becoming waste. Creating something out of these common materials  can bring more meaning and thought onto the public when they engage with it and clearly see what it is made out of.
