In Class Writing

To me glamor is something that is special yet understated. I don’t think it needs to be too flashy, I think something that looks polished is more glamorous than something voluminous. I think glamour to me is also synonymous with effort. It needs to look like you care about presentation, but you don’t need to overcompensate for it. Glamour is confidence. When I feel like I have achieved this sense of glamour, the emotion I feel is accomplished and proud. I feel really good about myself when I feel this way, which is only sometimes. It is a special feeling. It wouldn’t be glamorous if it was an every day feeling. An object that has made me feel glamorous is an heirloom from my Russian side of the family. It is a vintage gold ring with a ruby in the middle. It is from the 18th century. When I put it on I feel special because it is so beautiful, and simple, yet important looking. It assumes power. It is truly glamorous to me because it doesn’t have to be a name brand to be glamorous. The status of glamor associated with it is because it is a rare, old piece, and it is a simple design yet its quality is suburb. The antithesis of glamour to me is when people stack Cartier bracelets. It doesn’t show a lot of creativity and its honestly kind of embarrassing.
