Feminism

In Asian Cute Culture, culture is obviously the most important and prevailing system of power. “Cuteness” this feature influences not only people in Asia, but also literally all human being, no matter which age groups of girls or even males, it’s impact is worldwide. The more significant thing is its huge effect on female’s power, and let people pay more attention on feminism. Feminism is certainly a major part of culture system, and this term basically means activity to define rights and interests of women. Personally, I think culture is the most essential system in our globe, since it connects to religions, politics, transportation, and abundant other systems of power. Different culture can lead to varied points of view, so that it is arguably one of the most crucial systems of power. Feminism especially play an influential part in culture system, and therefore, I strongly believe this system has slowly changed what people’s thinking today.

Nowadays, feminism is one of the hottest topics among all the controversies, people around the world are talking about why female is always weaker and less powerful than male. Sexism, a form of discrimination based on sex, then are also be prevailingly be mentioned as well today. Even though I do not really want to admit, but as we can see, most of people, especially in Asia, still think men are better than women, and they are stronger, more powerful, can do more things. Cute, small, weak and so forth, these words are belong to female. In contrast, muscular, energetic, robust, capable and other more positive vocabularies are describing for male. It is becoming a kind of stereotype, people tend to think girls are weaker, and this misunderstanding has been spreading from generation to generation. Take my hometown–Taiwan as a demonstration, the elders still hope the descendants can have baby boys, and this phenomenon can easily be spotted anywhere. To be honest, it is pretty difficult to change what people’s previous impression. These examples clearly shows that men and women are receiving an unequal treatment, and no matter in which country or culture, feminism is always a debatable argument.

In addition, females are not as easy as males to get a job, and it absolutely is not a special news. According to catalyst.org, there were only 36 percent of the labor were women in 1978, and the rate has increased to approximately 46 percent today, which is a really good phenomenon. Nevertheless,  there are merely 15.4 percent of female in CEO position. Moreover, just take the election that just happened few months ago as an illustration, the male president candidate still won on female presidential candidate. More significantly, there has not had any female presidents in the United States, and barely have few around the world. We can hardly see females are in higher positions in most of the companies, and apparently it has nothing to do with the capabilities. These demonstrations apparently point out there is quite a huge gap that between male and female still existed in any jobs for decades. But, fortunately, this circumstance is getting better and better, and hopefully females will share same equality with male in a near future.

Furthermore, despite the working part, female’s lifestyle has also been deeply affected. In some countries, women are forced to wear garments that cover from their head to their toe, only eyes can be seen. Additionally, they are better to stay in home, rather than go to work, since males believe they can do much better than females do. Even worse, they do not have right to travel, right to divorce, access to education and other extreme illustrations of gender inequality in some developing countries. These cases have happened over and over again. It is really sad and ashamed that these kinds of unfair events still existed in our society in this century. Beside this, take a really popular topic now as an illustration, should women be allowed to go topless in public like men? This question is pretty hard to answer correctly, particularly when I am a man. However, debate.org has pointed out that there are still more than one third of people do not agree with it. Some people think women should have some dignity and pride, and believe this case is nothing to do with equality. It seems like it is not easy to draw the line between sexism and fairness. In my opinion, I think this sort of question should be answered by women instead of men. No matter what they choose, men have to respect women’s notion.

Undoubtedly, men can do a lot of arduous, rigorous tasks that women are not really easy to qualify, such as carrying heavy cargo, soldiers, police officers and other occupations that require physical capability and stamina. Since females’ bodies are not as strong and muscular as males’ are, which makes sense. Nonetheless, sexism is still occurred all around the globe. It is pretty necessary to stop immediately and should not spread this false notion to our offsprings. Luckily, our society are paying more attention on female now, and they have earned more and more respect. I personally believe and hope people will look female at the same way as male soon, and feminism is truly playing a really important role in our society now.
