Bridge 3

When I was little, I knew I love doing business, and going to be a businessman in the future. And yet when I get older and older, I found out that I have a strong passion for fashion as well. I was pondering for a long time, but one day, I suddenly realized that I can be a retailer or buyer, which covers both fashion and business. Nowadays, there are innumerable different sorts of systems in our lives, such as religions, politics, transportation, economics, and the list going on and on. All of them are really necessary and deeply influence our lifestyle, and we literally cannot live without them. Nevertheless, in my perspective, I think retailing is one of the most significant systems to me. Even though it is not  really consider a system of power, and does not affect people profoundly like other systems do. But to me, the impact to me is far more than anyone else can think.  I always wonder how this kind of business works, thus, I raised some questions, for example, Approximately how many brands should they introduce? Menswear or womenswear is easier to sell? What are the revenue, cost, profit are? Which price range does most customers spend on? How many storage places should they have? And so forth. Nonetheless, the question that I am most curious about is “How do the fashion retailers work, and become successful?”, and basically this question covers all of the questions that I am interested in. I then chose my all-time-favorite company –Barneys New York as a topic, and tried to figure out how did Barenys become so successful. When I was researching, I found out there were plentiful sources that associate with it. After browsing for quite a long time, I then selected apparel.edgl.com to refer how Barneys planning, and how this 15-men-team collaborate with different departments. In addition, I also used Eyeondesign.aiga.org as a resource for why they started using print publication, and how they used this fresh method to attract clients. Last but not least, I chose chosedigiday.com to understand how the invention of app affects them to entice customers, and enrich the brand. After I finished studying these resources, I think I got most of the point that I should know in retailing industry, especially my dream job, and absorbed abundant new knowledge.
