Project 1: The Journey is the Destination

Top 2: Final Project

Bottom 4: Process photos (Watercolor paintings and patterns)

When approaching this project, I began to explore a very obvious way to organize the information I had collected about my 24 hours. I had created multiple sketches that outlined my day. I explored different lists, word collages, etc. Throughout the brainstorms we did in teams during our class time, I began to approach different, more abstract ways that I could organize my data in. I thought about creating two different beverages that would represent both parts of my day (day and night), and began to explore the different mediums that I would be able to use. I ended up coming to the conclusion that I would explore digital modification, watercolor and pattern making. I created two different pattern; each pattern representing the two different parts of my day. The daytime pattern represented different aspects of my day: the harshness of waking up, the sporadic events that occur every single day, the randomness of certain activities and an increase in energy. However, when creating the pattern that represented my evening/night, I created a more rhythmic pattern that summarizes my nights. Every night, I do similar things. I bathe, I talk to my parents, brothers, and friends, I eat dinner. I get ready for bed. I had realized that my nighttime routine does not vary much from day to day. Hence the reason I wanted to create the two different patterns that are representative of experiences.
