My zine and video aren’t linked conceptually, but I think they both reflect pieces that make up the whole of me. My zine, exploring ideas about how I’m represented through the images associated with my Instagram; my video, connecting videos in my phone to objects I associate with myself.

To break down my zine more, I was inspired by the Johari Window model we studied in Creative Team Dynamics. The Johari Window is split into 4 different sections: 1) what you and others see in yourself, 2) what you see in yourself but not others, 3) what others see in you but you don’t, and 4) an “unknown” category. I drew a metaphor for each window with each photo list: 1st window/main, 2nd window/saved, 3rd window/tagged. I found it interesting that the main page had the least photos, while the saved pape had the most photos, yet that makes logical sense to me also. I feel I have to chose my best to show on my main page, while I feel more free to save whatever I want.

I was a bit confused on the video assignment, yet my interpretation of the project led me to create a video where I green-screened objects with videos I correlated to them. The first object, a wine glass, was titled ‘drink’ and showed a video of myself and a friend dancing. The second object, a lemon, featured a video of myself and another friend of mine walking down Frenchman St. in New Orleans. I think both objects are personal; when I think of wine glasses, I think of my city’s  liberal views about alcohol, and when I think about lemons, I think about the many places I grew up in New Orleans. The videos projected onto the items are visualizations of those two concepts as well.
