Arch. Design Studio 1: 1.2 Elements of Space – Performative Assembly

Referencing my assembly diagram from Project 1.1, constructed an aerated model that performs the rules of assembly for my wooden puzzle. I designed a system of support for my “Burr” that mediates and amplifies the reciprocal relationships between individual pieces.

1.2 A: I developed 3 different systems of support using only 1/8″ X 1/8″ square-section basswood pieces. The actions words identified in Project 1.1A served as a guide in the development of my constructs.

1.2 B: I used one of my Systems of Support to develop a construct for all pieces of my “Burr”. The following requirements have been met: 1. All pieces of the Burr must be included in my construct. 2. All pieces must be elevated from the ground plane. 3. The overall construct is restricted to and must engage a 12″X12″X12″ boundary. 4. The individual pieces and the system of support within which they are housed shall be reciprocal.
