I assigned to visit 3 of the 5 buildings of
The New Whitney – Renzo Piano Architects
The Highline – Field Operations and architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro
IAC Building – Frank Gehry
Metal Shutter Houses – Shigeru Ban Architects
100 11th Avenue – Jean Nouvel
and I was asked to analyze, in detail, 1 of the buildings. By using my camera and sketchbook I identified and drew the key details, components, and elements of the systems of assembly that define the relationship between the building and the environment within which it is sited.
I prepared a comprehensive list of key details and elements that define this building by preparing an InDesign File of Catalogue that I wanted to share my research and key elements. The source of informations (text and reference photos) are from https://en.wikiarquitectura.com/building/100-11th-avenue-building/, also available on 2nd page of catalogue.
Those are images of my sketchbook that I tried to draw, from careful observation, the visible and non-visible details of the key building systems.
Reference Images for my drawings on pencil are searched on http://nyc-architecture.com/NEW/AAGAAS12.htm and https://en.wikiarquitectura.com/building/100-11th-avenue-building examples of how glass get connected and try to understand Jean Nouvel’s design.
