Summer 2021 – Getting to Know Materials – Molding & Casting Part 2

For this project I am basing it off of a word in Arabic (izdihar or إزدهار) which roughly translates to a state of being in development and thriving and is something I have been thoroughly interested in this summer. I think development always expresses itself as change albeit its general connotation is positive. This intrigues me as the way in things can grow and develop can lead to interesting moments in people lives but in the case of art it can come in the way forms change. One material that comes to mind is candle wax and how that can change with time and use. For this project, I would like to create a cast of the word “izdihar” with each melting in a video.
