Observational Research

I chose to do research and observation on the Museum of Modern Art to be the location, The reasons behind due to my domain, Desire, color, texture are commonly found in the modern artworks. People come to this museum to because they have the desire to look a certain artwork, either is the world famous The Starry Night or some of the new artist collection. Foreigners came all the way from Asia and Europe and chose this museum to visit, there have to be something about this museum that triggers the desire within people.

I took pictures of some of the artwork that tough my eye. Most of them I like because of the texture within the artwork.

Feliza Bursztyn, Untitled 1967.

The texture that is glazed on top of this sculpture is so ugly, nasty and slimming but somehow you just can’t take your eyes off it.

Yayoi Kusama, No. F 1959.

Yayoi Kusama, Accumulation of Net (No. 7) 1962.

Those picture two pieces are from the same artist Yayoi Kusama, I really like the texture in those two pieces, it looks like tired lotus root for me, it is kinda gross and uncomfortable for some people to look at but I found it every interesting.

Bela Kolarova, Five by Four 1967.

I really enjoying looking at this piece of artwork, each pin is slightly different. The artist use everyday office supply to create varies of textures

Claes Oldenburg, Gaint Soft Fan 1966-67.

I like this piece of artwork because it changes the look of ordinary fans and makes it unordinary, it uses shiny leather to gave fans with SM authentic.

Andre Derain, Bathers 1907.

I love the color artist used in this painting, the cool tone of the background contrast with the warm tone of the figure. The figure looks lost and lust, looks like they are trying to find a way out of something. this picture related with all three of my domains, color, texture, and desire.

I could not find the name of this piece of artwork, I love how the light is shining down this lace texture artwork, and the way of the shadow plays on the white canvas.

Overall I found many of interesting texture and form of artwork in the Museum of Morden Art, I made some sketches of the inspirations from the artworks in the museum.
