Prototypes and Iteration 3/16

At that time, I was still trying to think about iterations and prototypes for me final project. Since the main inquiry of my project is to discover the connection between food, color and emotion therefore I produced 3 iterations for my final project. During that thinking and preparing process, I first came up with the idea of visual cheating because of my domains are food, color and emotion therefore I want to play with food and color. So I made some curry and mixed it with blue edible food coloring, Usually people will eat yellow color curry because of that is a tradition but here, I want to be creative and create something which is unusual food people normally won’t see and won’t eat. Yellow is belong to warm color and warm color usually can quicken people’s appetite, but when I mixed blue color in the yellow curry, the curry became so different on it’s look. Blue is belong to cold color and usually there are no cold color foods expect something like ice cream or etc. Cold color can subside people’s appetite, for this curry experiment, even though it doesn’t have any change on the taste but when I showed my roommate of this curry she said this make her doesn’t want to eat at all even though it smells good but, Blue color curry is not for her to accept, she feel disguising on this blue curry. For this iteration, I am looking for Visual cheating and how does it can influence people’s feel and emotion. I was interesting to pursuing on different kind of foods and changing their original color to make to opposite color or some colors that people normally won’t think about, The reason that I want to do this is because first, It connected with food, color and it can lead and change people’s emotion, also I think the process of it was very creative and fun.

The second iteration that I was trying to do at that time were also about food(drink) and color, but the difference between the first one is that I presented the emotion part more directly by writing emotion words on containers. I was planning to make different color drink by juicing different color and kind of fruits or vegetables also mix with edible food coloring together. The juice can not be make by randomly, it should classify by their color, taste and the feeling that they usually represent, for example, I am going to make an “angry” emotion drink, I should first choose all of food material by red color, such as watermelon, red apple, red pepper, red cabbage etc.  Second, since the word “angry” usually come with the feeling and spicy taste, therefore I choose red onion, red pepper, chili power, ginger and lemon to make the “angry” juice. Foe this iteration, I am looking for to accomplish is to showing the audience my three domains more clearly and directly. Also it should be include all three of my domains. the part that I am most interested in pursuing  is I should exploit few more different color’s” emotion” drink such as yellow, green or black color. because of I want a various project so I can be better present my ideas. This second iteration is my favorite one, therefore, my final project will be upgrade version of this iteration.

I am thinking about to make a food map for my third iteration. It basic classify on colors, emotions and foods. I am going to make a chromatic circle and put different color’s food on top of it. for example, if the red color represent the word “passion” then I will put passion fruit and some of red color tropical fruit such as:  cheery, raspberry, etc. And do the same thing to other colors, eventually make a chromatic circle by food, which I think is very interesting. Unfortunately, I think this idea is too easy and boring, also it can waste lot money on it therefore I was abandon on this idea. For this iteration, I was looking to accomplish it more directly then the second one so my audience can be clear at a glance of my three domains. I don’t really have an aspect for the third iteration that I most interested in pursing because I don’t think this iteration is good enough.
