Paul Rand – Identity

I am currently in the process of creating an identity system for a club I created here at school. The club is called PROTOS and it is a business professional society and currently has 15 members. I created PROTOS in hopes of creating a community of like minded individuals who share a common interest in creative entrepreneurship and know a thing or two about business and investing. Creating a brand (the logo, merchandise, graphics, etc) is really challenging. When I am having a hard time getting off the ground with a design I look for inspiration. Many people amongst the graphic design community know legend Paul Rand. No not Rand Paul. Paul is a god amongst men when it comes to creating practical logo systems. He is most famous for creating the NEXT logo (Steve Job’s computer company) and the ABS logo. If you checkout his website you can see hundreds more logos that he created that are award winning and genius in every regard. My favorite work of his is the IBM logo redesign. That world known lined lettering is all Pauls design. I am inspired to create a similarly universal logo for my organization.
