Earring Design Phase 3: Creative Technic

The final phase was three dimensional design of the accessory. The inspiration came from the class assignment of making origami octahedron and then I made a tetrahedron paper prototype, which is more accurate in terms of the shape. For the crude prototype, I used hard cardboard to mimic the quality of metal, and simplified the folding method by cutting the piece into smaller triangles that form the four sides of the tetrahedron. Using the pieces from crude prototype as template, I cut the metal sheet and attached them together with 4 millimeter iron rings for both the aesthetics and mechanical connection. The highlight of the final product is the 3 spherical magnets inside that hold the tetrahedron structure and allow quick and easy transforming process for different looks.
