The theme of my dress practice log is comfort. As a fashion design student I always believe in comfort comes before style in our daily life. The first picture I choose from my last assignment is my pajama for Sunday. What I hadn’t considered before this assignment is why distinct identity is important in our daily clothing choice.“as discourse, materiality and embodiment, fashion has been intrinsic to the identities of both as centers of modern metropolitan life and as the resort of the wealthy but it has also been part of the everyday lives or their inhabitants” as Clark and Buckley wrote in Fashion and Everyday Life. Understanding why branding is important in fashion market will tell us the answer. When people solve the problem of hunger and cold, they will start filling their desires, in order to step in a higher living standard. Standing out in normal, being unique and distinct from others became the goal for most people.
The dress practice log impact me understanding more about how the environment and identity could influence our choice of clothing in daily life. Environment means not only the temperature weather or place, it also including the color theme around, the person you speak to, and comfort zone. The identity including nationality, wealth, professional and gender. The first picture of pajama shows the how environment influence the clothing and how our body reflect on comfortable clothing. The second picture claims how identity play an important part in our daily clothing choice.
