Week 1: Documenting 3D Objects

For this project, I chose to use a Rubik’s cube form my younger sister. The problems I encountered were mainly because of the light. Without a professional studio light setting, natural light is hard to control: it was always changing. Some photos I got are warm light, some of them are cold. So I decide to adjust them in Photoshop.

Process:

I clean up the background but leave a little bit of shadow(with softening edges) and reflection since I think it gives a feeling of depth in space. Then I try two options:

  1. adjust the light of the background(unselect the Rubik’s cube/subject)

(not really working for this one because it’s too blue)

2. discoloration

I actually like the reflection of the color on the ground (caused by the paper I used for the background), and i tried to do black version also:
