Presentation

For the label project, my focus was on the amount of toothbrushes and general plastic waste that get left behind in waters every year and the fatal harms they cause the marine life as a result. I used vintage photos of beach lives, where people are in a good mood and enjoying their day and included and highlighted certain colors to increase my message in the images with the addition of a marine life facts on the corner of the photos.

Focus Impact: Recycling

Concepts:

  • Comic strip label.
    1. On the second page of some newspapers in Turkey, there is usually a small column for the “comic strip of the day” for adult entertainment. These comic strips would consist of jokes about Turkish culture and humor. Focusing on a toothbrushes impact of recycle, I am thinking of creating a set of images (like posters) based on this topic.
    2. The images would include awareness of thrown away toothbrushes in beach photography style.
    3. The aim of these images is to spread around the importance of toothbrushes to our environment, as they are ignored despite being everyday objects people use frequently.
  • Caution label.
    1. Creating a “caution” label for bamboo toothbrushes: giving out an “alert” type message visually in reference to their relationship to the environment.
    2. This label will be looking like a caution label in order to spread awareness that there are toothbrushes that can be recycled.
