The design challenge is to create an educational, stimulating and convenient toolkit for the ever growing group of marijuana users across the country, especially those at risk of police targeting and those in minority communities. The inspiration from this toolkit originally came from a friend of my fathers who just founded a brand called “the Annabis Collection”, a collection of purses for higher class mom figures to discretely keep their weed. My project further developed in reading and researching Nixon’s “War on Drugs” and how it became means for a mass genocide of hippies and young black people. The toolkit consists of a booklet that lays out the entire war on drugs and its true intentions, along with how we are feeling the effects of it still today. Furthermore, the toolkit contains a “Know Your Rights” Manual, that explains what exactly TO DO and what exactly NOT TO DO when stopped by police and if arrested, and how to prepare for these situations. To continue, the toolkit holds Best Buds Organic Rolling paper (healthier than blunt raps), a smell proof weed holder, and a grinder.
