Dali & I – The Final 2 Books

Partnered with Dali Schonfelder, we got to know our supposed ‘opposite’ and made two books – profile & intraview.

We have come to the end of the second project here in Studio 1. It was so nice getting to know Dali more through this project. While it was a project about your opposite by the end I felt like we were just two girls on different paths but not necessarily opposites and I think that’s because we got along so well.

My profile book of just Dali was made out of 7 panels of plexiglass cut down to 9×12. I took different elements that I had learned of Dali from the Met and in Seminar to create each page. I also used the shadow and the outline from the first day of this project.

For the Intraview we decided to take a bunch of pictures and both use it but in different ways. I think a big opposite between us is that she is so hard working for her business while I prefer to procrastinate and do other things I like rather that was is demanding of me. The second page we both posed in the same spot in a cafe and I used a poem I wrote for seminar in “Mermaid” font under the pictures. Next we have in “Gravity” font some trademarks like Aquarius VS Virgo or wings (as in my wing eyeliner) and lashes (for her applied eyelashes). The next two are our difference in color- Dali very orange and me very mystical rich colors.

While making this second book, I felt like it was evolving into a book about likenesses because it really didn’t seem we were all that very different. There is something about this last picture that does it to me. It almost captures that idea of being one but different people all at the same time.
