Mapping Content – Bridge #2

My Route: I just moved into a new apartment and I walk 5/10 minutes to the L train very day around 10:30am to go to class.

WALK THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS:

Smell cigarettes

Today is not very cold at all

kinda sweating

Good thing I didn’t wear my hat

People are leaving their homes, headed to the train like I am

I’m listening to an intense ballad song and passionately lip singing along with it. That with the sun shining and a warmer day feel so nice and happy.

Lots of dogs out being walked – I love dogs – I miss my dog a lot so seeing dogs out always makes me smile. Unless they bark at me and the owner yells at me like happened back in summer.

The subway smells like fuel – somewhat concerned.

I feel crampy- great!!!

QUESTIONS

  1. What are you curious about on the journey? And why?

  2. What feelings are conjured up when you are on that journey? Explain those feelings.

  3. What memories arise for you?

Since my route through Bushwick is fairly new to me, I find myself very curious about the different art murals on every wall, or that Virgin Mary shrine. I wonder who did that and why. But they are so beautiful and colorful and it lightens whatever mood I’m in when I pass and observe them. It’s nice to see art everywhere, and not them just being advertisements. People create these pieces where everyone can see and receive from it. It really makes me feel and remember the reason I came to New York City. It really is a beautiful place full of creatives trying to make it. And I like this journey because it leads two ways, to school which I am highly grateful to be able to go to, or home, to my very own apartment with my sister, where I can really be comfortable and no have to tip-toe around people. These are both things in my life I have fought so hard for to have in my life and I appreciate every second of it.
