Project description:
In this project, we are creating our own garments(designs) after exploring the different techniques and skills of creating fashion. We need to find all the materials that we need and start from zero.
Mood boards are created, and the theme of the garment is according to the research topics in seminar class, during the research and due of several drafts, my ideas and designs actually changed a lot with the improvements and the understandings of the topic.
I used several different garments in the colour black to create my final garment. My research topic in seminar is “Black in Fashion History”, and I looked at a huge amount of information about this colour. I am interested in this colour because it is related with the history of colour symbols, female’s social status, huge changes through out time and the widely usage of black in daily lives in modern days(Especially there’s lots of people wearing black on streets in New York).
Working Processes:
I used the sewing machine and hand-sew needles to create this piece of work, it is very interesting to make clothes from lots of different clothes. I also used some scarf to create the boob tube top and corset.
Final work:
I will be photographing it for next project(bridge 5) and documenting it with what I have researched in my seminar. I will also explain my design and ideas in the final presentation.
I think I learnt a lot in this project, my ideas changed while I am creating the garment, I developed my design from a simple one to a complex one, including and mixing all my concepts in the investigating essay.
